I guess "Jump! Jump!" wouldn't have worked as well

Company inspirational slogans amuse me. I recall once sitting in McDonald's and reading a sign over the drive-thru window that said something like "S.D.F.U. -- All the time!" FRINAN and I spent several minutes trying to decode that acronym. Most involved uncomfortable things done with unicorns and umbrellas.

But here's an interesting one from Pizza Place. I came into work the other day and found that Airfon had fixed upon a new inspirational message:

That's just inspirational as hell, isn't it?

If the reference eludes you -- as I imagine it would -- this video should refresh your memory.

  1. So, uh, I guess you Pizza Placers are Regulators now?

This doesn't have anything to do with that Bachman story, does it?

  2. Unfortunately, no, it has nothing to do with the story. Though brightly-colored vans with antennas on top sweeping by and unleashing a hail of machine gun fire would certainly add some spice to my day.

  3. And you're absolutely certain Airfon's inspiration was this song? It seems to me the phrase "mount up" or some variation has been around probably as long as people have been mounting things, which I imagine is many more years than the Regulators have existed. I could be wrong. I'm no mountiologist.

  4. I'm no Airfonologist, but once you said he was the one who put the sign up there, that's what my mind jumped to. The YouTube vid confirmed my suspicion. Man, this song ruled ... when I was 10.

  5. Oh, I'm absolutely certain this was his inspiration. He was using the phrase "Mount up!" all friggin' night before he put up the sign, and when I finally asked for clarification, he cued the song up on his iPhone.

It might have also helped to know that Airfon is a rapper. He is the AK in AK and Abel:

Trust be told, they're not bad. If you're into that kinda thing.

  6. They just botched that URL to shit.

    Try this.

If you actually listen to any of their songs, he's the one with the higher voice.
